Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is looking for a talented, experienced, and enthusiastic Senior Data Analyst to join the Surgery and Cancer Business Intelligence team.
This role will lead on the delivery of the Corporate Cancer Directorate’s priorities including:
- Reporting on Trust cancer performance internally and externally e.g. the Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS), 31-day and 62-day standards.
- Data quality and assurance which will include monthly data validation.
- Ad-hoc reporting and data insights to drive service improvement.
The role will be split between being based at the St Mary’s site in Paddington, with some meetings at other sites, and working from home.
Main duties of the job
- The successful candidate will have strong technical skills (Excel, SQL, Python and Power BI are essential and Qlik and Somerset desirable) as well as extensive NHS cancer knowledge and experience. They will use these skills to analyse, interpret and present complex data, supporting operational, performance and strategic decision-making across cancer services.
- The role requires a collaborative, proactive and flexible individual who can work independently and as part of a wider team. The post holder will maintain high standards of accuracy and quality whilst managing a varied workload, balancing competing priorities and consistently meeting deadlines. They will be expected to demonstrate excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, taking ownership of tasks and using their initiative to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the post holder will be required to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of corporate, operational and clinical managers.

- Significant experience in Health Informatics ideally in a Business Analyst role
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of mandatory reporting requirements, NHS data standards and definitions
- Advanced knowledge and competent use of Patient Administration System and other HealthCare I.T. systems.
- Advanced use of SQL to extract data from large complex databases
- Experience of managing projects including use of project plans, identifying risks, etc
Desirable
- Experience of supervising staff.
- Experience of Cerner Millennium
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience developing ETLs in Visual Studio
Education/ Qualifications
Essential
- Masters degree (or relevant occupational experience).
- Postgraduate qualification in relevant area or equivalent experience.
Desirable
- Management qualification or equivalent experience
- Qualification in Project Management
- Association of Professional Healthcare Analysts professional registration
