Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the administration team within the Rheumatology service at Aintree Hospital, Liverpool.

This is a part-time, fixed term position.

The successful candidate must be able to undertake all administrative duties, with the minimum of supervision, although full training and support will be provided.

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive admin support to the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team within Rheumatology, including coordination of the Rheumatology Nurse Advice line each morning. Other duties include booking patient appointments, liaising with Clinic Utilisation Clerk for population of clinics as advised by CNS team colleagues.

You must be able to organise your own workload and coordinate activities with the other team members to ensure that an efficient service is provided.

It is essential that you show initiative commensurate with the role and it is vital that confidentiality should be maintained at all times.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Coordination and daily monitoring of Nurse Advice Line for rheumatology patients, including triage to appropriate colleagues. This includes dealing with patient queries in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring information is shared with relevant clinical staff as required.
  • Booking of patients to allocated CNS clinics, using Trust systems in accordance with policy.
  • Transcription, edit and issue of clinic reports following Trust guidelines.
  • Clinic utilisation in liaison with CNS and Clinic Utilisation Clerk, including management of clinic cancellations for leave/sickness absence, including notification to appropriate personnel in accordance with Trust policy.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
