The Estates team are looking to recruit an organised and efficient Waste Officer. The post will be based at Kings Court 2, Worcester but will have responsibility across both Herefordshire & Worcestershire. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to work under pressure using own initiative. The role will also follow a development plan for the first two years. Main duties of the job
You'll play a key role in leading and developing the Trust's waste management programme, ensuring services are safe, compliant and aligned with NHS sustainability and Net Zero ambitions. Working closely with the Environmental and Sustainability Manager, you'll provide expert advice on waste legislation, oversee waste contracts, monitor budgets, analyse performance data and deliver initiatives that improve environmental performance, increase recycling and reduce costs.
You'll build strong relationships with clinical, operational and corporate teams, acting as the Trust's specialist for waste management, supporting procurement, delivering training, audits and compliance activities, and promoting best practice across the organisation.

Knowledge
Essential
- Understanding of waste legislation and NHS waste standards.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and manage competing deadlines.
- Working knowledge of the Internet and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience
Essential
- Relevant Estates experience within the healthcare sector
- Experience delivering organisational change and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Experience engaging with staff and resolving operational issues.
Desirable
- Experience of managing waste compliantly to the relevant healthcare legislation, specifically Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 07-01.
- Developing and delivering training to suit a range of learning styles and needs
Qualifications
Essential
- Level 3 Qualification or equivalent experience.
- Willingness to undertake waste or sustainability-related training.
- I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Desirable
- Waste Management qualification (e.g. CIWM)
- IEMA Foundation Certificate or equivalent.
