Main duties of the job
Ward Manager – Trauma & Orthopaedics (Ward 3B)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Ward Manager within the Trauma and Orthopaedics service on Ward 3B.
As Ward Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the ward, supported by a dedicated team of Deputy Sisters/Charge Nurses. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient-centred care, while upholding professional standards and fostering a positive and inclusive ward culture.
You will be a strong patient advocate, demonstrating excellent communication and leadership skills across all levels of the multidisciplinary team. A sound understanding of the principles of general medical nursing is essential, alongside the ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff within a busy orthopaedic environment.
Ward 3B has an established, collaborative team that prides itself on working together to support patients throughout their hospital journey. The successful candidate will embrace this strong team ethos and contribute to continuous service improvement, staff development, and innovation in care delivery.

The post holder will:
- Provide strong clinical leadership and expert advice to both qualified and unqualified staff within the department
- Act as a mentor and assessor, supporting the development of junior staff and students
- Contribute to a culture of learning, development, and continuous improvement
You will be expected to practice in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, ensuring the highest standards of professional practice at all times.

Essential
- Registered Nurse with NMC.
- Teaching and assessing course, ENB 998 or equivalent
- Evidence of continuing professional development

Previous Experience

- Evidence of current experience at Sister Band 6 or above in Orthopaedic speciality
- Evidence of teaching in clinical practice
- Can implement and manage change
- Proven leadership and managerial capabilities.
