A development opportunity has arisen within the Oncology Day units at Alnwick and Berwick for a Manager ( Band 7) to provide clinical/operational management for patients undertaking Systematic Anti-Cancer Treatment.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the nurse led Oncology Day Units treating a range of tumour groups. You will work closely with the wider members of the MDT, palliative care and other clinicians in providing high quality care.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical expertise through the role of Oncology Day Unit manager to manage and develop the service . The post holder will work in close liaison with the other Unit Manager, and other Deputy Sister/ Deputy Charge Nurses, Matrons, Practice Development Team (PDT) and the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to provide the highest quality of assessment and evaluated care required to support each patient in their care pathway and improve the patient experience.

Candidates should be working within the SACT service and have significant post registration experience including previous experience of giving SACT and managing toxicities/acute oncology symptoms.

Enhanced knowledge and decision-making skills are essential and completion of, the clinical skills course or equivalent would be an advantage.

To be responsible for co-ordinating the provision of continuous clinical care within allocated resources, providing a quality service and high clinical standards for all patients in your area To be responsible for the management of all human resource issues relating to the staff employed in your area To act as Budget Holder, accountable for the management of the unit budget, and for the management of the charitable fund To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership To liaise and co-ordinate the ODU team through the use of effective communication and evidence-based practice To provide the highest standard of holistic care for Oncology /Haematology patients undergoing treatment and supportive care, through the utilisation of advanced clinical skills. To contribute to the setting, standardisation and maintaining of standards of care across all sites delivering Chemotherapy and SACT Trust wide To participate in the on- call rota for the Trust wide Chemotherapy Emergency Helpline
