The Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team. We currently have a Ward Clerk vacancy which is a permanent post for 25 hours per week.
The MCSI Ward Clerk provides a comprehensive front-line administrative and reception service for a 46-bed specialist spinal injuries ward, supporting patients throughout their lifelong care journey. The role is central to ensuring smooth ward operations, coordinating patient pathways, and maintaining continuity of care for patients who frequently return to the unit.
The role requires excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills, with the ability to manage complex information while providing compassionate support to patients and their families.
Under current Home Office Immigration Rules, this role does not meet the UK Visas and Immigration criteria and the position is not therefore eligible for skilled worker sponsorship. Applications from candidates that require skilled worker sponsorship will NOT be shortlisted.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing a welcoming reception service for patients, relatives, and visitors.
- Attending the daily multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting to support patient flow and communication.
- Managing admissions using the National Spinal Cord Injury Database and requesting external imaging via SECTRA.
- Handling sensitive and confidential information with patients and families following life-changing spinal injuries.
- Coordinating Progress and Goal Planning meetings with patients and relatives.
- Obtaining quotes for specialist spinal injury equipment purchases and rentals.
- Arranging patient transport with Ambulance Trusts across the West Midlands and North Wales.
- Monitoring shared ward email inboxes and ensuring timely communication and administrative support for the multidisciplinary team.
