Main duties of the job

The role of the tACP is integral to the medical assessment, management and referral of patients presenting to the emergency department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn, working alongside the medical team, including doctors in training, and the wider multi-professional workforce.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As part of the multidisciplinary medical team, the post holder will provide clinical expertise towards developing and enhancing the clinical service in the Emergency department. The post holder will demonstrate advanced skills and competencies, and ensure that evidence based practice is inherent in all aspects of the patient care and treatment. Working within the multidisciplinary team following local and nationally agreed protocols and guidelines, the tACP exercises independent judgement under supervision to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the clinical care and management of Emergency Department patients. They work alongside and support the education and development of medical, nursing and AHP colleagues

Skills

Essential

  • Sound clinical skills
  • Demonstrate ability to produce complex reports and formulate policies
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.

Desirable

  • Advanced clinical practice skills i.e. ABGs, ECG and CXR interpretation

Experience

Essential

  • Currently practicing within an urgent and emergency care setting for a minimum of 5 years, demonstrating a broad range of experience within the acute setting.
  • Experience of successfully resolving complex problems

Desirable

  • Evidence of conference presentation or journal publication
  • Experience in service development
  • Experience as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner
  • Proven record of leading and effectively managing change

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered nurse or Allied Healthcare Professional with current NMC/HCPC professional registration
  • First Level Degree
  • Able to study at Masters level and willing to complete or currently working towards Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification at masters level
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • ALS/ APLS provider or equivalent
  • Completion of leadership module/course
  • IRMER regulation trained
  • Teaching and assessing qualification
  • RED DOT X-ray training course
  • Intention to complete RCEM ACP accreditation
