Job summary

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen within Leicestershire Health Informatics Services Patching & Provisioning Team. This role is to provide the day-to-day routine and operational support duties to the IT Support and Infrastructure department (which includes warehouse function) and is designed to support busy system engineers and system technicians. This is primarily an office based role but may require travel at a local level on a daily basis to administer goods at various LHIS storage facilities. This role will require a physical fitness to lift up to 20kg unaided and work within the Health and Safety Executives manual handling guidelines. Contact Details: Faruk Osman, faruk.osman@nhs.net

Main duties of the job

This will include monitoring routine systems outside of the Project and Stores team, for example Server backup failures systems, Antivirus systems, Encryptions systems and to take necessary action. This post will also be responsible for administering, organising and planning the receipt, storage, stock control and distribution service for all ordered LHIS stock, including orders on behalf of clients. These deliveries may include mobile telephones, computers, printers, network equipment etc. This post also includes installing software as required on PCs/Laptops, to ensure that physical assets are maintained to an appropriate standard. This role is key for ensuring that assets are available for deployment to technicians and that assets are also accurately tracked from receipt to disposal and is to support the recycling of hardware recovered from customers to ensure that this process is monitored, equipment returns are logged and disposal is in accordance with agreed procedure.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge of routinely used IT equipment in the corporate office environment and its application of usage.
  • Understanding of Ordering and receipt and delivery.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • The ability to concentrate in a busy support environment when problem solving, checking information and answering queries.
  • Confident in their abilities, can work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Frequent requirement for moderate physical effort, to carry, move equipment, e.g. Printers/ PCs. Requires a physical fitness to lift up to 20kg unaided and working at heights, and work within the Health and Safety Executives manual handling guidelines.
  • Required to operate independently but within defined guidelines and protocols. The post holder will be managed by the Team Leader with key results measured at agreed intervals.
  • Ability to understand rules governing procurement and work within those rules despite pressure/deadlines.
