The Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) welcomes applications from Team Managers to join our Mental Health Support Teams (MHST)

The Mental Health Support Teams (MHST’s) are also become part of the school community, engaged in the curriculum impacting on the whole school whilst reaching those with identified emotional wellbeing and mental health needs. The Team Manger will ensure that the service is delivered to the highest quality, meeting the needs of children, young people and families, and our colleagues in education.

MHST teams offer 3 core functions of service:

• Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild-to-moderate mental health problems
• Supporting the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach
• Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education

If you hold a nationally recognised professional qualification and are registered with the relevant regulatory body, such as the HCPC, Social Work England, or the NMC, we would love to hear from you. Applicants should also have experience working with children and young people (CYP) experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties, alongside proven leadership and management experience.

Main duties of the job

• To be operationally responsible for the Mental Health Support Teams and ensure that is fulfils the core offer.
• To ensure that all workforce responsibilities are carried out, such as managing performance, annual leave, sickness, expenses, annual appraisals, operational supervision, training requirements.
• To work alongside the Teams in building and strengthening relationships with schools working with the Mental Health Support Teams.
• To develop and maintain good referral links with CAMHS STW Pathways.
• To develop and maintain good working relationships with CAMHS STW Partners and external agencies within health, social care and third sector organisations.
• To be responsible for the Teams in meeting national and local performance targets.
• To ensure the quality and accuracy of data and reports that are submitted to the Contracts Commissioner for reporting up to NHS England.
• To demonstrate outstanding leadership and management skills to ensure the on-gong development of staff and the service.
• To contribute to the development of ideas and innovative practice and propose changes to protocols and procedures within the Mental Health Support Teams and CAMHS STW where required.
• To initiate and participate in departmental audit as requested by the Service Manager or Quality Improvement Lead.
