You will support staff to deliver high-quality autism assessments and intervention, champion continuous improvement and work collaboratively with families, education, health and social partners to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.

Main duties of the job
The post holder carries day to day responsibility for the operational management and delivery of a CYP Autism Service across South Staffordshire.
The post holder will ensure that a high-quality service is delivered within this specialist area and that all National and Trust targets and standards are adhered to including the recording of information within the IT systems.
The post holder will be responsible for the management of staff within the team, leadership, the delivery and delegation of management supervision and ensuring appropriate clinical / professional supervision takes place as per Trust Policy.
The post holder will also carry out clinical work to maintain clinical competencies and team performance. In conjunction with the service leads and multi professional partners they will develop the provision and quality of services for patients. This will demonstrably reflect the principles of clinical governance, clinical effectiveness, cost effectiveness as well as Trust and National Policy.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, inclusive of Black Country Procurement Group and North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service.
- Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board.
Responsible for providing operational and clinical leadership and delivery of services to the multi-disciplinary teams within CYP Autism Service.
To be responsible for the deployment, day-to-day management, supervision and co-ordination of designated staff. To be responsible for monitoring sickness, annual leave, flexitime arrangements, appraisal, personal development planning and informal disciplinary matters.
The post holder will have responsibility for ensuring performance within designated trust standards including clinical, key performance indicators and financial management targets and with the support of the Service Manager, will hold responsibility for the management of the service budget.
Maintaining own clinical competencies to support clinical leadership and team performance by working clinically as and when appropriate.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with service users and their families to ensure a high standard of care is delivered. They will also liaise closely with a variety of external service providers in Local Authority Children’s Services, Education, other Health services as well as charitable and voluntary sector organisations.

Essential
- Evidence of substantial experience of working with children and young people with Autism and their families
- Experience of effectively initiating, developing, implementing and evaluating operational processes.
- Evidence of improving service delivery in line with evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrable experience of effective multi-disciplinary team working.
- Experience of managing own caseload efficiently to reduce waiting times and minimise DNAs.
Desirable
- Experience of inputting into Health Roster system (or equivalent electronic system to input staff absence, sickness).
- Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience of managing service budgets.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Relevant professional qualification (for example Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work) or equivalent.
- Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist.
- Current professional registration with the relevant body NMC, SWE, HCPC or equivalent.
- Evidence of continuing and recent post-registration CPD relevant to the service area.
- Evidence of substantial experience of working with children and young people with LD, Mental Health and Autism and their families
Desirable
- Trained in and experience of using specialist Autism assessment tools including ADOS and ADIR.
- Training in therapeutic modality relevant to children and young people’s mental health and Autism.

- Higher level clinical skills in the assessment, treatment and management of patients of the relevant age group.
