We are looking for an experienced and motivated Community Paediatrics Team Leader to provide operational, clinical and professional leadership within our Children's Care Group. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, child and family-centred community paediatric services across a variety of settings.

You will work closely with the Service Manager, Professional Lead and system partners to ensure safe, effective and responsive services that improve outcomes for children and young people. Combining expert clinical practice with compassionate leadership, you will support service development, quality improvement and workforce development while promoting a positive team culture. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about leading change, developing staff and ensuring children, young people and families receive outstanding community care.

Main duties of the job

As Team Leader you will provide day-to-day operational and clinical leadership for the Community Paediatrics team, ensuring safe, effective and high-quality services. You will lead, motivate and develop registered, non-registered and administrative staff through supervision, appraisal, professional development and workforce planning.

You will oversee service delivery, manage caseload allocation and triage, monitor performance, quality, governance and risk, and work collaboratively to deliver continuous service improvement. You will contribute to strategic planning, implement evidence-based practice and ensure compliance with national guidance, professional standards and Trust policies.

Working in partnership with health, education, social care and voluntary sector colleagues, you will provide specialist advice, support integrated working and contribute to improving outcomes for children and families. You will also maintain your own advanced clinical expertise, support complex clinical decision-making when required, and champion a culture of learning, innovation, safeguarding and continuous quality improvement.

The successful candidate will provide visible leadership to the Community Paediatrics team, ensuring high standards of clinical practice, governance, patient safety and staff wellbeing. You will manage workforce performance, recruitment, sickness absence, annual leave, supervision, appraisal and mandatory training, ensuring staff are supported to achieve their full potential.

You will be responsible for planning and coordinating team activity, managing changing priorities and responding effectively to operational pressures while maintaining high-quality care. You will work collaboratively with the Service Manager, Professional Lead and wider Children's Care Group to develop services, implement quality improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic objectives across the organisation and wider health system.

The role includes providing specialist clinical expertise, supporting complex assessments and clinical decision-making where appropriate, participating in referral triage and ensuring effective workload management across the team. You will lead on clinical governance, audit, risk management, policy implementation and service evaluation, using data and evidence to drive continuous improvement.

Excellent communication and partnership-working skills are essential as you will work closely with acute providers, education, social care, local authorities and voluntary organisations. You will manage sensitive conversations relating to safeguarding, complex needs and family support with professionalism and compassion.

This is a varied and rewarding leadership role requiring resilience, initiative and the ability to balance operational management with clinical credibility. The post involves working across community settings, including travel between clinics, schools and family homes, with occasional lone working as required.
