This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Urgent and emergency care operational management teams
You will provide day-to-day management and operational support to the UEC and administrative team, ensuring efficient delivery of high-quality patient correspondence and service coordination. You will oversee management of staff, manage leave and sickness cover and monitor key service deliverables across our sites which are in Salford, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham. Working closely with clinical teams and operational team. Will ensure smooth administrative processes, support patient flow, attendance to bed meetings and maintain high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and patient-focused service delivery.
Main duties of the job
- Line manage and support a team of secretaries, typists, and administrative staff within the UEC admin teams.
- Oversee staff rotas, including management of annual leave, sickness absence, and cover arrangements to maintain service continuity.
- Conduct appraisals and performance reviews, supporting staff development and wellbeing.
- Ensure clear communication, role clarity, and adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
- Maintain oversight of key deliverables such as typing turnaround times, letter sign off and investigation log management.
- Support with tracking and monitoring KPI's
- Identify risks or delays in administrative processes.
- Participate in service planning and development of administrative systems supporting patient care.
- Assist in the investigation of complaints/PALS.

Essential
- Ability to lead and work as a team member with professional and managerial colleagues
- Evidence of good influencing and negotiating skills.
- IT skills – use desktop computer and confident with excel

- Understanding of the NHS, its infrastructure and partner healthcare organisations.
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree level or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Business administration qualification, eg, NVQ 3, or equivalent experience
Knowledge & Experience

- Substantial experience of working within an acute trust provider
- Detailed knowledge and experience of national KPIs around UEC
Desirable
- Experience of working in operational management in the public sector
- Knowledge of PRINCE principles
