JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title & Band: Administrative Assistant Standards & Guidelines Band 4

Department: Audit and Governance Department

Initial Location: Altnagelvin Area Hospital, Londonderry

Reports To: Senior Audit Manager

Responsible to: Assistant Clinical & Social Care Governance Manager

Job Summary

The Standards & Quality Improvement Support Officer will contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and review of effective Clinical and Social Care Governance within the Trust. The role will support the monitoring and implementation of quality and safety related correspondence and guidance. He/she will also support clinical and social care audit projects and quality improvement activities and processes.

The post holder will work closely with health and social care professionals, other audit and governance staff and may come into contact with patients, clients and carers.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

To support the development, delivery and promotion of the Trust’s Quality Strategy;

To assist with the maintenance of systems and processes to support effective Clinical and Social Care Governance activity including implementation of standards, guidelines and quality and safety related correspondence issued by the DHSSPSNI, HSCB, RQIA and other organisations;

To develop as required, and maintain effective monitoring tools, including regular follow up of action plans associated with implementation of standards, guidelines and recommendations from letters/reports;

To liaise with staff, including senior managers, professionals and clinicians regularly to ensure that plans are developed and taken forward to implement standards and guidelines as required by the Trust;

To support, maintain and update databases and tools to enable effective monitoring and implementation of standards and guidelines;

To advise health and social care professionals on audit/quality improvement methodologies and the design of audit tools, including proformas, questionnaires etc.;

To assist in the collection and analysis of data and the production of oral presentations and written reports;

To assist in compiling information and reports for consideration by the various Committees within the Trust’s Integrated Governance Committee Structure;

To support and maintain robust manual and electronic reference and filing systems;

To contribute to the planning and delivery of various Clinical and Social Care Governance events throughout the Trust;

To provide input at Clinical and Social Care Governance related training and education sessions as requested;

To attend Clinical and Social Care Governance related meetings on request;

To carry out any other duties which might be requested from time to time commensurate with the post holder’s grade.
