We are seeking an experienced individual with strong management skills and experience in emergency care.
This is an exciting opportunity as we undergo major changes including relocation the Urgent Treatment Centre into the Emergency Centre footprint. As a band 7 you will rotate through this area assisting in co-ordinating services.
Under the guidance of our Senior team and clinical educators you will receive comprehensive mentoring in ED specific skills and shift co-ordination, This includes minor injury management, x-ray requesting, wound closure, Manchester triage and line management including employee relations issues.
Main duties of the job
You will be paired with a mentor from our esteemed band 7 team, supported by our education experts who will nurture and shape you into a proficient band 7 Sister or Charge Nurse.
The role presents an outstanding leadership opportunity in the emergency department setting with opportunities for occasional cross site collaboration.

Skills
Essential
- Fully competent in all clinical skills relevant to emergency nursing (Including - Triage, minor injury management, care of the critically unwell patient adult or child, transfer of the critically unwell patient, trauma care, chemical incident management and major incident management)
- Evidence of conducting audits and development of current department.
- Ability to resolve and deal with problems and conflict
- Competent in x-ray requesting and advanced plastering
- Good understanding of infection control principles and their application within an emergency care setting
Experience
Essential
- Previous emergency department experience at a senior level (minimum 2 years as a band 6)
- Able to work in a busy demanding area
- Practical teaching experience formally or informally
- Experience and competence in managing / leading a team
Desirable
- Good understanding of clinical governance and its application within an emergency care setting
- Line management experience (performance appraisals/sickness management)
