We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic leader to join us as a senior sister/senior charge nurse in our busy but rewarding Emergency Department.

The Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurse is a rewarding role. You will be pivotal in the department striving to achieve the highest standard of care for all our patients within ED. You will lead our dynamic, multi-disciplinary team on a daily basis, ensuring the smooth running of shifts in a challenging and diverse environment. Your clinical leadership and people skills are vital to delivering the responsibilities and accountabilities outlined in this job description.

Main duties of the job

What we look for:

  • Recent Band 6 Emergency Department, Critical Care or Acute Medicine experience
  • Adult nurse
  • Relevant emergency/critical care competencies.
  • Recognised leadership qualification and experience of leading a team
  • Involvement with a QI project
  • Passionate about promoting and maintaining high standards of nursing care within ED

Essential

  • Evidence of a NHS leadership course or equivalent
  • Experience in delegation and staff skills.
  • Understanding and knowledge of governance and patient safety

Skills and ability

Essential

  • Ability to work and lead within a MDT across the organisation.
  • Ability to deliver formal and informal learning sessions to all groups of professionals
  • ALS/EPLS

Desirable

  • Highly specialised clinical skills relevant to the speciality

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of CPD
  • Experience of staff supervision and mentorship

Desirable

  • Experience of workforce budgets and staff development planning
  • Evidence of teaching qualification or equivalent

Training and qualifications

  • NMC registered
  • Degree or equivalent knowledge and skills
