We are excited to offer an opportunity for a band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the Elective Hub at the Royal Derby Hospital.
The Elective Hub is currently a 24 hour Surgical ward which incorporates 23 overnight stay beds and 24 day case trolley spaces. We care for patients on multiple Surgical and Medical pathways.
The Elective Hub was opened in June 2024 which gave the opportunity to redesign admission and discharge processes to improve the elective patient pathways. We work closely with the theatre team and the Surgical wards.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated leader who wants to develop in their career. You will work alongside the existing ward team ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
The successful individual will provide effective and visible leadership and will be expected to drive the unit forward.
Applicants must hold a current NMC registration, and have demonstrable post registration experience with band 6 experience within a Surgical Nursing setting.
Main duties of the job
The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills and strive for excellence in all aspects of the role. They will need to act as a role model and maintain and uphold high standards of professional behaviour.
The successful applicant will take overall nursing responsibility for the day to day ward environment. They will ensure that high standards of nursing care is provided and drive forward both service development and quality improvement . They will also be ensuring we promote patient safety and a positive patient experience.

Within this role you will also be expected to take part in the surgical unit rota and will need to be flexible to provide the senior nursing support across the surgical unit. You will also need to work closely with the bed manager team, to ensure that our patients are getting the right care in the right place first time.
