An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse on Ward 1 Withybush General Hospital.

The successful candidate will have experience working within an acute Surgical/Colorectal environment. The successful candidate will be a senior member of the multi-disciplinary team and will be a key link with service users and the wider clinical teams within Withybush General Hospital in leading and supporting service delivery.

Main duties of the job
Provide visible clinical leadership, ensuring safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
Manage the ward/team workforce, including recruitment, appraisal, performance, and staff wellbeing.
Lead on quality, safety, and clinical governance, including audits, risk management, and continuous improvement.
Oversee day-to-day operational management, including patient flow, capacity, and resource use.
Support staff development, education, and a positive team culture.
Ensure an excellent patient experience, responding to feedback and driving improvements.
Contribute to service development and organisational priorities, deputising for senior colleagues as required.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Proven and relevant experience at Band 6
- Appropriate experience within speciality and able to demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant speciality
- Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2018)
- Proven post-registration experience and evidence of coordinating and managing a team of staff
- Able to demonstrate an awareness of professional issues and developments
- Evidence of leadership skills
- Experience of working in a multi-professional environment
- Experience in budget management
- Experience of effective staff management
- Experience of running a ward/area/department
- Experience of mentoring pre-registration nursing/ midwifery students

- Bronze IQT
- Teaching/ Coaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Knowledge of legislation pertinent to role
