The University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is seeking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of an exciting portfolio of primary care cancer improvement projects, helping to improve cancer outcomes for the population of North Central London.
The role sits within the North Central London Cancer Alliance (NCLCA). It is a collaboration of NHS organisations and other partners, hosted by UCLH. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Alliance at a time of significant transformation across cancer services. Working closely with the Programme Lead, clinical leaders and partners across the NHS, Integrated Care Board and primary care, you will lead complex projects that improve cancer diagnosis, screening, education and service delivery.
We are looking for an experienced project manager with excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You will be able to manage multiple priorities, build effective relationships across organisations and use data and evidence to support service improvement and innovation.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of the Primary Care Programme within the North Central London Cancer Alliance, you will lead and deliver complex projects that support the implementation of the NCL Primary Care Cancer Strategy and wider Cancer Alliance priorities.
The main duties include: • Leading the planning, delivery and evaluation of NCL-wide primary care cancer improvement projects. • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clinicians, primary care networks, Integrated Care Board colleagues and other partner organisations. • Managing project plans, risks, milestones, budgets and reporting arrangements to ensure successful delivery. • Supporting improvements in cancer screening, early diagnosis, learning and development, and the use of data and analytics within primary care. • Facilitating multidisciplinary collaboration and service improvement across organisational boundaries. • Producing high-quality reports, presentations and project documentation for a range of internal and external stakeholders. • Supporting clinical teams to implement evidence-based improvements that reduce variation and improve patient outcomes.

The Senior Project Manager will work closely with the Programme Lead and clinical and managerial colleagues to develop and deliver the North Central London Primary Care Cancer Programme. The post holder will lead complex improvement projects that support earlier diagnosis, improved cancer screening, enhanced education programmes, greater use of data and analytics, and stronger engagement with primary care across North Central London.
The role involves planning and managing multiple projects simultaneously, developing detailed project plans, monitoring delivery against agreed objectives, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
The post holder will work collaboratively with clinicians, primary care networks, Integrated Care Board colleagues, NHS Trusts, local authorities and other partners to design and implement service improvements that reduce variation, improve patient outcomes and support delivery of national and local cancer priorities.
Responsibilities include facilitating service redesign, supporting quality improvement initiatives, developing stakeholder engagement strategies, producing reports and presentations for a range of audiences, managing communications across programmes, supporting public and patient involvement, promoting education and training initiatives, and ensuring robust governance arrangements are maintained.

Essential
- Extensive experience of running large scale projects/ programmes in a large, complex organisation or network/system
- Successful record of managing and implementing substantial service transformation and organisational change projects
- Experience of effective financial management
- Significant experience of working closely with stakeholders to inform and implement initiatives.
- Proven success in business planning and in the development and effective implementation of strategic plans
Desirable
- Experience of working with partners and stakeholders to deliver sensitive changes to services
- Experience of management within the NHS
