This role is ideal for an experienced NMC-registered nurse, and we welcome applications from Learning Disability Nurses, Adult Nurses, and Mental Health Nurses, recognising the value of a diverse skill mix.

You will bring confidence in applying your specialist knowledge and clinical expertise to improve health outcomes and patient experience for adults with learning disabilities. You will play a key role in advocating for patients, influencing care delivery, and promoting person-centred, inclusive practice.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will support adults with learning disabilities across a range of hospital settings, including inpatient, outpatient, planned and unplanned admissions. You will play a vital part in ensuring individuals can access high-quality healthcare, tailored to their unique needs.

You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating person-centred care, working closely with patients, their families, support staff, hospital teams, and partners across the SABP Learning Disability Division. Your collaborative approach will help ensure each individual receives compassionate, appropriate care throughout their hospital journey.

A key focus of the role is championing inclusion and “mainstreaming” best practice across hospital services. You will deliver training to hospital staff, including induction sessions and bespoke learning opportunities, raising awareness and improving outcomes for people with learning disabilities.

As a Senior LD Acute Liaison Nurse, you will also take on leadership responsibilities, providing supervision and line management to 1–2 junior team members, supporting their development and fostering a positive team culture.

In addition, you will actively promote the learning disability agenda across the hospital and within the SABP LD Division, contributing to a variety of workstreams and initiatives that drive service improvement and innovation.
