This post is a safeguarding nurse  is for Birmingham Children's Hospital. The post holder will be based between BCH .

The role requires the individual to have advanced experience of safeguarding children and adults . The individual will need to be enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about safeguarding children and adults. The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with other partner agencies across Birmingham

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse who:

  • has expert knowledge of the legislation and statutory guidance in relation to safeguarding children and adults
  • has a keen interest in ensuring high standards of safeguarding practice
  • will provide expert knowledge, support, and advice to staff across  Birmingham Children's Hospital
  • will provide safeguarding supervision to staff across Birmingham Children's Hospital

Main duties of the job

You must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, be a caring and compassionate individual focused on working within the values held by the Trust.

The post holder will be part of an integrated safeguarding team of experienced, dedicated specialist nurses and midwives providing high quality specialised care for women, children, young people .

This is a full time substantive post.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc Nursing
  • Registered Nurse Understanding of the NHS (National Health Service), Children and young people’s services and other relevant organisations
  • NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration

Analytical and Judgement Skills

Essential

  • High degree of analytical skill in supporting and advising clinicians in assessment of safeguarding risk.
  • Ability to respond effectively to multiple competing priorities within a busy environment

Knowledge & Nature of Experience

Essential

  • Experience of safeguarding children At least 3 years clinical practice experience in the last 5 years
  • Knowledge and understanding of current issues that relate to safeguarding children and adults and their practical application.
  • Awareness of government/ political influences relating to safeguarding children and adults
  • Evidence of multi-disciplinary working and partnership working. Ability to evaluate and audit practice.
  • Demonstrate a vision and knowledge of current developments within the safeguarding agenda.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child and adult safeguarding legislation

Personal Skills/Abilities and Attributes

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to convey complex, sensitive information in times of stress
  • Good presentation and teaching skills Excellent report writing skills
