Job overview

The Systemic Anti-cancer Therapy/Immunotherapy (SACT/IO) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will have the clinical knowledge and expertise to work autonomously or willing to undertake a development role to become an expert practitioner in SACT/IO focusing on immunotherapy. He/she/they will have or be willing to develop the expertise to manage complex situations including providing specialist education and advice to patients, medical and nursing teams in managing cancer patients throughout their SACT/IO.

He/she/they will function as an associate key worker for patients being treated with immunotherapy requiring specialist support. This will include running a nurse led clinic (face to face and virtually) assessing immunotherapy toxicities and prescribing supportive medications accordingly.

He/she/they will be an active member of the SACT/IO multidisciplinary team involved in monitoring and developing SACT/IO services across the trust and liaising with community partners to ensure patients receive sustainable high quality care that is safe and effective.

Main duties of the job

  • This role provides strategic, clinical and professional leadership for the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) and Immunotherapy service, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred cancer care. This role will also provide expert clinical leadership for SACT and Immunotherapy services, driving service improvement, workforce development and outstanding patient care while ensuring compliance with national standards, governance requirements and evolving oncology practice.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Leadership at Band 6/7
  • Relevant post registration experience, SACT/IO working at band 6 or above for at least 18 months

Desirable

  • Ability to lead and influence change

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • NMC registration
  • Minimum of two years SACT/IO experience

Desirable

  • Non-Medical Prescriber
  • Masters or working towards Masters in Advance Clinical Practice or Oncology related
  • Experience with capacity planning, workforce planning or service management
