Rostering Team Leader

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Rostering Team Leader to join our Central Rostering Team within the HR Service Centre, based at Summerfield House, Aberdeen. Reporting to the Rostering Systems Manager, you will play a key role in leading the delivery of a high-quality, responsive rostering service across NHS Grampian.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, managing and supporting the Central Rostering Team in the effective administration of the Scottish Standard Time System (SSTS) and the Allocate eRostering system. This includes ensuring the accurate and timely maintenance of workforce data, supporting service areas with roster creation and optimisation, and ensuring that payroll-related data is processed correctly and within strict deadlines.

You will line manage a team of Data Assistants and Rostering Officers, overseeing team performance, setting priorities and allocating resources to ensure service delivery targets are consistently met, particularly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You will also provide expert advice and guidance to system users, contribute to the rollout and ongoing development of eRostering, and support continuous improvement of processes, systems and reporting.

A key aspect of the role is building strong working relationships with stakeholders across clinical services, Workforce, HR, Finance and Payroll teams, as well as engaging with national groups to support system development and best practice.

Candidates should have experience of working with complex workforce, rostering or payroll systems, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role - or clear evidence of leadership capability - is essential. You should be confident in managing competing priorities, leading and motivating a team, and communicating complex information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.

You will be highly organised, adaptable and able to operate effectively under pressure, with a focus on delivering accurate, high-quality outcomes. The ability to identify issues, implement practical improvements, and support system or service change is essential.

Experience of NHS rostering systems such as SSTS or Allocate eRostering, along with knowledge of NHS terms and conditions, would be highly advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and forward-thinking individual who can lead people effectively, provide technical expertise, and contribute to the continued development of workforce systems that support safe and effective patient care.

Applications are invited for this post on a full-time basis (36 hours per week).

The role is hybrid, with regular attendance in the office required.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Ian Ross, Rostering Systems Manager, by emailing ian.ross4@nhs.scot

Interviews will be held in week commencing 6th July.
