Job overview

The Regulatory Compliance Officer supports the clinical governance, quality and safety agenda across the Trust, working under the direction of the Risk and Assurance Manager. The post provides dedicated capacity to coordinate the systems that evidence compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, principally CQC registration and inspection frameworks.

The postholder maintains central evidence processes, coordinates self assessment, gap analysis and action plan monitoring, and produces performance reports for committees and senior leaders. They act as the main point of contact for compliance queries, deliver training on assurance systems, and support the Clinical Accreditation Programme through scheduling, assessment and reporting.

The post also holds responsibility for the management of patient information leaflets. This includes maintaining a controlled central register, tracking review dates, confirming clinical sign off, and ensuring content meets the Accessible Information Standard. Out of date or inaccurate leaflets are a live organisational risk affecting informed consent, and timely, accurate patient information is a Patient Experience objective this post directly supports.

Together these responsibilities release senior clinical time from governance administration and give the Trust a sustained, evidenced assurance position rather than one assembled at short notice.

Main duties of the job

Coordinate the internal and external arrangements that support the Trust in meeting statutory and regulatory requirements, including CQC registration and inspection frameworks. Support the Assurance Manager in preparing for and responding to external inspections, peer reviews and evidence requests, and maintain a central log of reviews, reports and action plans.

Develop and maintain central evidence processes so that requests can be answered accurately and on time. Coordinate self assessment, gap analysis and action plan monitoring, and produce reports identifying gaps in compliance and the actions needed to close them.

Manage the Trust's patient information leaflets. Maintain a controlled central register, track review dates, chase clinical sign off, and ensure content is current, accurate and meets the Accessible Information Standard. Escalate leaflets that fall past review.

Interrogate assurance systems such as Datix to provide data and reports for committees, managers and clinicians. Analyse complex and sometimes sensitive information and present it clearly to a range of audiences.

Act as the main point of contact for compliance and assurance queries, and deliver training on assurance systems to staff at all levels.

Support the CAP, including scheduling, assessor allocation, database management, report production and carrying out assessments where required.

Manage competing priorities across these areas so that internal and external deadlines are met.
