We have vacancies for Clerical Officers to join the team at the newly developed Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) and at the Ealing Hospital Acute Site.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive and efficient reception and, examinations booking service to patients attending the Imaging Department.

They will take the lead role for a particular modality, ensuring bookings do not breach the national waiting time standards and managing an efficient process of initial patient assessment for all Imaging request forms.

They'll also be expected to work independently and manage and prioritise their workload, liaising closely with the wider administration team in the Department.

This is a 7 days working - Monday to Sunday (8am-4pm, 12pm-8pm or 8am-8pm)

Main duties of the job

To act as the first point of contact for all patients as they arrive for their examinations in the Imaging department and attending to members of the general public seeking information and support regarding Imaging services.

To act as the first point of contact for other medical staff, planned visitors and delegates who have appointments/meetings within the department. ID badges and security checks are undertaken on first arrival.

To deal with all telephone queries entering the department from Patients, General Practitioners, Consultants and other Hospitals, as well as general Departmental matters. This includes changes to appointments, addressing any conflicting appointment information, and requests for images on CD, and fielding calls to radiologists and other members of staff. To ensure that all telephone calls into the Call Centre are answered within the agreed time and in line with the Trust telephone standard.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

  • To communicate and deal effectively with callers in person and by telephone and pass on accurate messages and information

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good standard of education at Secondary level
  • Level 3 Vocational Qualification or equivalent experience.

  • Recognised qualification or possess the willingness to be trained.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Computer literate
  • Experience in dealing with people at all levels.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality

Desirable

  • Worked in a hospital environment previously
  • Knowledge of a Radiology Department
  • Knowledge of PACS or equivalent hospital system
