We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to join the Chief Operating Officer's Office (COO). This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Divisional Leadership Teams, supporting the delivery of key strategic and operational priorities across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will lead and support a diverse portfolio of projects and programmes delegated by the Chief Operating Officer. The portfolio will be varied and responsive to the Trust's operational priorities, providing an opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of initiatives and make a tangible impact on patient services.
Projects may include areas such as:
- COO-Delegated Project Portfolio
- Project Planning and Delivery
- Executive Governance and Assurance
- Support to Divisions
- Analysis and Decision Support
- Risk, Issues and Interdependencies
- Finance, Resources and Benefits
- Leadership and Project Capability
- Relationships and Representation
Working collaboratively with clinical, operational and corporate teams, you will provide expert project management support to ensure programmes are delivered effectively, on time and with measurable benefits. You will be confident working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a track record of successfully delivering complex projects and service improvements. Experience within an NHS or healthcare setting would be advantageous.

Experience
Essential
- Extensive experience of successfully delivering complex, high-profile projects using recognised project-management disciplines within a large and complex organisation.
- Significant experience of supporting senior operational or executive leaders and delivering delegated priorities across multiple services or Divisions.
- Proven experience of establishing project governance, plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, reporting, benefits measures and closure arrangements.
- Experience of working across professional and organisational boundaries and securing delivery through influence where direct authority is limited.
- Highly developed analytical capability, including interpretation of complex quantitative and qualitative information and communication of findings to executive, clinical and operational audiences.
- Experience of operational performance, recovery, service improvement, productivity, financial delivery, business cases or benefits realisation.
- Experience of managing politically sensitive or high-profile work and resolving competing priorities and stakeholder expectations.
- Experience of line management or matrix leadership, including supporting and developing project staff and workstream leads.
Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to master’s or degree level, or able to demonstrate equivalent senior project-management knowledge and experience.
- Formal programme or project-management training, such as PRINCE2, MSP, APM or equivalent practical experience.
- Evidence of recent and relevant continuing professional development in project delivery, NHS management, leadership, finance, analytics or service improvement.
