The Digital Services team at Velindre University NHS Trust is playing a central role in delivering the digital solutions that will support services within the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC). We are seeking a Product Manager to lead the management, development and continuous improvement of newly implemented digital products and services that support the delivery of high-quality patient care.

A key focus of the role will be the product management of My Pathway and other digital solutions introduced through the nVCC programme. Working closely with clinical teams, operational colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders, the successful candidate will ensure these products deliver value, meet organisational objectives and continue to evolve in line with service needs. The post holder will also support the management and optimisation of core clinical and administrative systems, including the Welsh Patient Administration System (WPAS) and Welsh Clinical Portal (WCP).

We are seeking a collaborative individual who can build strong relationships, champion product-led ways of working and ensure digital solutions are successfully adopted to maximise benefits for patients and staff.

Main duties of the job

A Product Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team for one of the specified products within the Digital Services portfolio. At this role level, you will:

Lead the Product Team, taking overall responsibility for the quality and success of your product

Manage a product through its full lifecycle, including discovery, alpha, beta and live states

Be the primary point of contact within the organisation for your product, engaging with relevant stakeholders to gather and confirm requirements

Develop and maintain the high-level road map for your products

Line manage and support the professional development of other members of the Product Team, creating synergy between the Digital Services teams

Be as passionate about developing people as you are about managing products

  • Product management experience
  • Successful implementation of digital-focused business change and improvements
  • Experience in supervising a multidisciplinary team of digital staff
  • Understanding of NHS / Healthcare digital requirements
  • Excellent understanding of translating business / functional requirements into specialist technical specifications and complex Digital systems

Desirable

  • Experience in taking a lead role in product development
  • Experience of working in an NHS / Healthcare or Public Sector environment

Qualifications

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent relevant experience, preferably within a digital / IT subject and/or healthcare subject area
  • Evidence of continuous professional development through their career
  • ITIL Foundation

Desirable

  • Prince2 Agile certification, or equivalent qualification
  • ITIL Specialist
  • In depth understanding of the product needs of Velindre University NHS Trust and its Divisions
