We are seeking a dedicated Perioperative Care Co-ordinator to join our multidisciplinary perioperative team, supporting patients through early assessment, risk evaluation, and health optimisation prior to surgery..

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will work closely with specialty administration teams, anaesthetists, and pre-operative nurses to streamline and accelerate patients’ pre-operative pathways.

You will coordinate care pathways, liaise with surgical and perioperative teams, and ensure patients receive tailored support—including referrals to specialist services—to optimise their fitness for surgery. Your role will be key in managing higher-risk patients in line with best practice guidelines and improving overall surgical outcomes through effective, patient-centered coordination.

Experience

Essential

  • Good NHS administrative NHS Experience
  • Relevant experience with coordination assessment clinics, appointments, and the elective patient pathway

Desirable

  • iClip / Cerner EPR experience

Qualifications

Essential

  • At least 3 GCSEs at Grade ‘C’ and above or equivalent

Desirable

  • Customer Care course (or equivalent experience)

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook)
  • Good typing skills
  • Theatre admissions process and waiting list management as well as 18 Weeks RTT pathway
  • Knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights as appropriate to your role
  • Ability to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support
  • Ability to understand an individual’s communication, physical & emotional needs; recognise their needs and preferences
  • Ability to provide a customer focussed service

Desirable

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
