Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well-established, inclusive multidisciplinary team, dedicated to caring for children and young people with a diverse range of endocrine disorders. We are seeking candidates who hold a Master’s degree, are currently working towards one, or are willing to undertake this academic pathway as part of their continued professional development.
Southampton Children’s Hospital is a leading centre for specialist paediatric endocrine services across the South of England. We provide expert acute care to our local population, as well as to a wider region including Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Dorset, Frimley, and the Channel Islands. Our service also offers a range of highly specialised clinics, including disorders of sex development (DSD), bone disorders, genetics, late effects, and tertiary obesity services.
Our team currently comprises four consultants, 2.6 WTE specialist nurses, and a cohort of junior doctors in both general and specialty training. We work closely with a variety of specialty services to deliver high-quality care across inpatient, outpatient, and day-case settings. In addition, we play a key role within the regional Wessex Endocrine Network, providing expert advice, support, and education to patients and healthcare professionals across the region.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential
- Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
- Level 7 Post Grad Cert (Min 60 Credits), Master’s Degree within relevant speciality or equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant speciality training, experience or portfolio
- Specialist training / Qualification in area of practice
- Provide evidence of leading learning in practice
- Evidence of experience and completion of all band 6 competencies within relevant speciality
- Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area
- Evidence of change Management, leadership and innovation
- Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant speciality
- Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
- Provide evidence of supporting / managing and supervision of a range of learnings in practice

- Counselling / advanced communication skills qualification / training
