An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cardiology Administration Team.
We are looking to appoint a Cardiology Consultant Personal Assistant (PA) to join our busy, friendly and supportive team, working 34 hours per week.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-organised and proactive individual to provide high-quality administrative and operational support to Consultant Cardiologists within a fast-paced and dynamic service.
This is a key role, essential to the smooth running of cardiology clinics and services. You will support patient pathways and act as a central point of contact for consultants, multidisciplinary teams, patients and external stakeholders, ensuring an efficient and professional service is delivered at all times.

Main duties of the job
- Type clinic and additional correspondence to GPs, patients and other allied health professionals in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide a fast and accurate audio‑typing service using Trust‑approved systems, including Amplify
- Cover for other Consultant PAs and medical secretaries during periods of absence to ensure service continuity
- Manage consultant email inboxes and take appropriate action on correspondence where required
- Relieve consultants of non‑clinical administrative duties wherever possible
- Organise meetings, prepare agendas and take accurate minutes as required
- Provide line management to a team of medical secretaries/administrative staff, offering professional leadership, supervision and motivation to deliver a high‑quality service
- Ensure Trust values are upheld and demonstrated on a daily basis, treating all patients with dignity and respect and maintaining a consistently high standard of service delivery

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Knowledge
Essential
- • Good understanding of secretarial procedures
- • Knowledge of Hospital patient management systems
Experience
Essential
- • Recent experience of Microsoft software package, including Word and Excel
- • NHS Administrative/secretarial experience including initiating and maintaining office systems
- • Demonstrable experience in dealing with the public and dealing with sensitive and confidential information
Desirable
- • Shorthand and/or minute/note taking
- • NHS Admin experience
Qualifications
Essential
- • RSA II minimum or equivalent experience
- • Vocational level 3 or equivalent experience in relevant field
- • GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent

- • Other typing qualification/proof of skill
Technical skills
Essential
- • Computer literate with word processing experience
- • Audio typing skills
- • Ability to supervise the workload of junior secretarial/clerical support staff within the admin team
- • Ability to work flexibly according to the needs of the service and adapt to changing aspects of the service
- • Ability to work as an effective team member as well as individually using own initiative
- • Advanced keyboard skills
