We are currently looking for an Operational Manager to work alongside our existing band 7 Clinical Leads to drive theatre efficiency, seek out improvement opportunities and support the modernisation of our theatre estate.
This is an exciting time for the department with plans in place to transform how we deliver our current services over the next 5 years. This role is seen as pivotal to these plans and the ongoing development of a culture where staff wellbeing and inclusion are of paramount importance.
Therefore, you must possess a leadership style that enables you to coach, engage with, and positively support staff as we look to deliver operational efficiency and the very highest standards of patient care.
An inquisitive nature and problem-solving skills will also be critical to the role as we look to develop new and smarter ways of working.
As a band 7 you will be accountable to the Head of Theatre Services and will provide a main communication route between the wider workforce and the Senior Management team.

Main duties of the job
- Accountable to the Trust for the planning and delivery of timely and cost effective processes designed to optimise patient safety and overall patient experience
- To exercise delegated responsibility on behalf of the Head of Theatre Services and Theatre Matrons to resolve day-to-day operational issues
- To ensure that Theatres and associated support services achieve optimum levels of productivity, efficiency and effectiveness in all area
- To identify and deliver service improvement opportunities and lead on a range of large projects to improve overall service provision / safety.
- To plan, encourage and facilitate continuous improvements across the service following an Improving Together methodology
- To possess an eye for detail and be tenacious in delivery of key service objectives
- To act as an outward role model for the service promoting Trust Values and a keenness to embrace change at all time

Education
Essential
- 5 GCSEs or O Levels, including: Maths & English
- NVQ 5 in Management or Administration or equivalent experience
- Diploma in Healthcare Management or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Management qualification
- Use of Lorenzo, CRIS, Power BI
- Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
Experience
Essential
- Experience in service and operational management/leadership at a senior level
- Demonstrable experience in strategic planning, project leadership and the implementation of service change
- Demonstrable ability to analyse and interpret data
- Experience of coordinating & chairing meetings and presenting data to a wide range of colleagues
- Experience of supporting teams in demanding work environments
Desirable
- Experience in developing Business Cases
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Awareness of healthcare policy issues
- Appreciation of the changing NHS environment
- Demonstrable knowledge of operational and performance management
