Children’s Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Ofsted Registered Manager to lead our two short break homes in Camborne, supporting disabled children and young people and their families.
This is a crucial leadership role, providing high‑quality, child‑centred residential short breaks and ensuring services consistently meet Ofsted standards. The successful candidate will be educated to NVQ Level 5 or equivalent and bring substantial management experience, alongside strong knowledge and a genuine commitment to working with disabled children, young people and their parents/carers. You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering safe, effective and compassionate residential care, or relevant transferable experience.

Main duties of the job
The Registered Manager holds overall operational responsibility for delivering a high‑quality short breaks service within one of the Trust’s residential settings. You will be required to register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager, in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, following successful completion of the Fit Person interview.
You will provide strong, visible leadership to your staff team, fostering a positive and inclusive culture that supports excellent care and continuous improvement. A key focus of the role is ensuring children and young people attending the service have access to a wide range of meaningful and enriching activities, while consistently achieving positive outcomes and strong Ofsted inspection results for disabled children and young people in your care.
The post holder will oversee the care and support of children and young people with complex healthcare needs, learning disabilities and/or life‑limiting conditions that significantly impact daily living. Working closely with an Operational Lead and a multidisciplinary clinical team, care will be delivered following individual assessments of need, on a planned basis. You will also be responsible for the management, development and supervision of a staff team of approximately 15–25 colleagues, ensuring safe staffing, high standards of practice and ongoing professional development.

- Innovative approach to problem solving
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across a variety of audiences
- Effective liaison skills with the ability to deal tactfully with colleagues, senior professionals, NHS managers, local authority, members of the public, and various stakeholders often requiring negotiation influencing and motivational skills
- Ability and discretion to take responsibility for deciding how best to identify opportunities an approach is to achieve expected goals and improve results
Education, Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- NVQ Level 5 in management and leadership or equivalent
- Specialist and in-depth knowledge and understanding of Ofsted process is an the children's home regulations 2015 acquired through experience and or short courses/ self-structured learning
- Postgraduate qualification in respective children and young people or equivalent experience
- Experience of working within services that provide care for children and young people with a learning or physical disability
Desirable
- Previous or current Ofsted registered manager status
