We are recruiting for a Nutrition Clinical Nurse Specialist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients
This post is designed to perform a key role in the delivery of a high-quality patient nutrition service based at Lister Hospital. The appointee will be an integral member of the team and will have a key role in overseeing the strategy and implementation of best nutritional care for the patients within the Trust. Clinically this post is integrated with the nutrition team consisting of a consultant gastroenterologist, dietician and nutrition clinical nurse specialist. The service aims to identify patients with nutritional problems, in particular those who need enteral or parenteral feeding support.
The post holder will provide an important link between other services and departments, including the cancer services, stroke unit, ENT team, community eating disorders unit, general surgery and radiology, this is not an exclusive list.
The post holder will be offered training and be required to work independently with the support of the nutritional Lead.
This is a 12 month contract to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job
Be a clinical expert in assessment of nutritional needs and delivery of treatment.
Coordinate the Nutrition Support Team (NST) with nursing care in general.
Provide advanced technical skills in relation to NG/NJ feeding and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG); liaising with services for radiological inserted gastrostomy (RIG)
Provide training for nurses, patient and carers.
Outpatient liaison with community nurses, patient and carers.

- Independent JAG accredited Endoscopist or willingness to undertake the training
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of working as an integral member of a small team
- Ability to undertake teaching of staff and patients
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage own workload

- Commitment to multidisciplinary working
- Demonstrate analytical and judgmental skills

Qualifications
Essential
- NMC Registered Nurse
- First level degree or equivalent experience / knowledge
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Teaching or mentoring qualification
Desirable
- Graduate diploma or MSC in nursing or equivalent higher professional qualifications in nursing/Specialist area
- Post registration qualification in specialty or willingness to complete
- Advanced communication course /or willingness to be trained
- IT / Excel experience
