Job summary
Leeds Children's Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist Team Leader to lead our Children's Nutrition IBD and Gastroenterology Specialist Nursing Services. This is an exciting opportunity for an autonomous and confident nurse with extensive experience in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Nutrition and Service Leadership. The successful post holder will provide expert clinical care as a Nutrition Nurse Specialist whilst leading and managing the specialist nursing teams supporting Parental Nutrition (PN), Enteral Nutrition (EN), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and General Gastroenterology. Working within a nationally recognised tertiary gastroenterology service, the post holder will play a key role in delivery high-quality, patient-centred care for children young people across Yorkshire and Humber.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide expert clinical leadership within the Children's Nutrition Service, supporting patients receiving parental and enteral nutrition. Line manage and professionally lead the Children's PN, EN, and IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist teams. Support the development, implementation and review of clinical guidelines, policies, care pathways, audit programmes and patient information resources Lead the development and delivery of education and training programmes for patients, families, carers and healthcare professionals Work collaboratively with local hospitals and community nursing teams across the Yorkshire and Humber region, providing specialist advice, support and education relating to Paediatric Artificial Nutrition Actively contribute to the wider Paediatric Gastroenterology Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and participate in governance, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives Provide clinical leadership for nasogastric (NGT) safety across Leeds Children's Hospital, supporting ongoing education, governance and quality assurance to maintain the highest standards of patient safety. Support service development and innovation across Nutrition and IBD services, ensuring care is responsive, effective and aligned with local and national priorities Work closely with consultants, allied health professional, managers and wider MDT colleagues to identify service challenges and implement improvement plans where required Foster a positive team culture
