We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse to join our team as a Neonatal Transitional Care Ward Manager (Cross Site) on a 12-month secondment, within Neonatal Services at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced neonatal nurse to provide operational and clinical leadership for Transitional Care services across both Derby and Burton sites.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, family-centred care, supporting mothers and babies to remain together whenever clinically appropriate.
As Ward Manager, you will lead and develop the Transitional Care workforce, oversee service delivery across both sites, and drive quality improvement initiatives to ensure safe, effective and evidence-based care. This role offers an excellent opportunity to influence service development and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of neonatal and postnatal pathways across UHDB.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be professionally responsible for the leadership and management of Neonatal Transitional Care across UHDB, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, family-centred care for mothers and babies.
The role includes oversight of day-to-day ward operations, workforce management, clinical governance, and staff development, while supporting pathways that enable babies requiring additional neonatal care to remain with their mothers whenever clinically appropriate.
The post holder will also lead service development and quality improvement initiatives, working collaboratively with maternity, neonatal and multidisciplinary colleagues across both sites to enhance patient experience and outcomes.
Applicants must hold current NMC registration, a recognised neonatal qualification in speciality, and significant post-registration neonatal experience at Band 6 or 7 level, with evidence of recent clinical leadership and management responsibility.
