We have an exciting opportunity to join our Workforce team as a Medical Roster Advisor, playing a key role in a large scale, high-impact medical rostering transformation programme across the group.

This is an ideal role for someone looking to be part of a major digital and operational change project.  You will work closely with the project lead, clinicians, and operational teams to deliver a modern, efficient rostering service that supports safe staffing, improves productivity, and enhances patient care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a large-scale deployment project, build relationships across clinical and corporate teams, and make a tangible impact on how our medical workforce is planned and managed.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the implementation and ongoing development of the groups medical e-rostering system as part of a major implementation and improvement programme
  • Provide expert day-to-day system support to users, resolving queries and troubleshooting issues quickly and effectively
  • Work closely with rota coordinators, managers, and clinical teams to promote best practice in rostering and optimise workforce planning
  • Analyse rosters to identify risks, improve staffing efficiency, and support safe staffing levels
  • Deliver training and guidance to a wide range of staff to support effective system use
  • Monitor compliance with rostering policies, KPIs, and payroll deadlines, providing advice and escalation where needed

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of staff rostering processes and rota management
  • Experience using electronic rostering systems
  • Experience maintaining and managing live rosters
  • Experience delivering training or supporting system users

Desirable

  • Experience supporting system implementations or transformation projects

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable

  • Relevant system certification (e.g. Allocate / rostering systems / RL Datix)

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge of the process of creating and managing staff rosters
  • Knowledge of NHS policies, procedures and legislation which may impact on electronic rostering
  • Ability to communicate in written and verbal formats including the use of different media for presentations to different audiences
  • Good teaching and presentation skills and able to pass on new knowledge

Desirable

  • Operational experience of RL Datix rostering software
