Job overview
To provide an efficient clerical support service to the Consultant Histopathologists and the department.
This will involve the distribution of histology reports, filing of information and request forms, distribution of material for second opinion.
A major part of the role involves extracting histological material and retrieving cases needed for MDT meetings and liaising with staff of all grades in the department to ensure all information is available for the meeting.
They will be the initial point of contact for callers to the department either via telephone or in person
Main duties of the job
To perform all duties outlined below in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Policies and Procedures.
To provide basic clerical and administrative support to the department.
To contribute to the accurate and timely distribution of histology and cytology reports, including producing additional copies as and when required.
To receive, sort, distribute and prioritise incoming mail.
To ensure correct postal service used for outgoing mail and ensure outgoing mail is correctly packaged.
Provide first point of contact for written, telephone and face to face enquiries on behalf of the department, using judgement to establish the validity and priority of the contact. To take messages/action as required.
