We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and flexible experienced nurse who embodies the Trust’s values and is committed to achieving the best outcomes and experiences for patients. The successful candidate will lead clinics and manage a daily caseload, demonstrating a flexible approach to work, strong communication skills, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development within a specialist area, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
This is a nurse-led service with anaesthetic support throughout the week. The post holder will require excellent communication and leadership skills, the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, and the capacity to perform effectively under pressure. A strong clinical knowledge base and high level of motivation are essential.
Main duties of the job
- Provides expert, autonomous clinical leadership for preoperative assessment and management of elective surgical patients, including high‑risk and complex cases
- Leads and delivers nurse‑led pre‑admission and preoperative assessment services across surgical specialties
- Develops integrated, patient‑centred preoperative pathways to improve quality, safety, and timeliness of care
- Offers professional leadership and specialist consultancy to multidisciplinary teams across the Trust
- Drives service development, innovation, and quality improvement, addressing health inequalities and complex patient needs
- Leads education, training, and competency development for preoperative assessment staff
- Promotes and contributes to evidence‑based practice, audit, and research
- Ensures compliance with professional, governance, and Trust standards, including NMC code, safety, and equality policies

- Physical assessment skills
- Well-developed IT skills including basic knowledge of database collection, web base applications and PAS.
