Job overview
We are looking for an experienced Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator to join the Digital Education Team, providing both front‑end and back‑end LMS support. It is essential that applicants have proven experience as a Totara Administrator.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for managing and maintaining all back-end aspects of the Learning Management System (HIVE), which supports Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and over 400 external partner organisations. You will play a key role in ensuring the effective delivery, development, and administration of the Trust’s digital learning environment.
Working closely with departments, subject matter experts, Learning Technologists, and other stakeholders, you will create and maintain online training courses, utilise Moodle learning activities, and develop organisation-specific and role-specific dashboards. You will support the ongoing enhancement of the HIVE, ensuring courses, certifications, user accounts, and system content remain accurate, compliant, and fit for purpose.
You will use a range of analytical and data management skills to collect, manipulate, validate, interpret, and report on learning data, providing both routine and ad-hoc information to support organisational and workforce development needs. You will be responsible for the quality, accuracy, and integrity of data held within the Learning Management System, including carrying out audits and data validation processes.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holderwill support and manage the Trust’s Learning Management System (HIVE), ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and development of online learning and training resources. They will work closely with internal departments, trainers, subject matter experts, and external partner organisations to provide system support, develop and maintain training courses, and ensure data quality and compliance.
Key responsibilities include managing a large catalogue of online training courses, creating and developing new learning content, dashboards, assessments and evaluations, maintaining user accounts and certification records, producing statutory and ad-hoc reports, and ensuring accurate learner data and compliance with Information Governance standards.
The role requires collaboration with education, workforce, digital transformation, and administration teams, as well as external system providers, to support system enhancements and testing. The post holder will also monitor HIVE licences, support mandatory training requirements, provide user training, and deliver guidance on course maintenance and reporting.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, the successful candidate will be responsible for prioritising their workload, responding to changing business demands, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Trust’s digital learning environment.
