At Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the Healthier Futures team are undertaking a once in a generation project to build a new hospital at Leighton in Crewe to replace the existing RAAC Hospital under the NHS New Hospital Programme (NHP).

To support this exciting project, Healthier Futures requires an Information Manager (BIM Manager) to work within their Technical Team and with the wider PMO.

Main duties of the job

Duties include overseeing the management, creation, exchange, control and compliance of all projects related information, development, implementation and management of the Trusts Client Common Data Environment (CCDE), providing a centralised digital location for storing of all project related data, including documents, models, drawings, specifications, reports, business cases, contracts and all other project related information, managing and maintaining the CCDE data repository, information compliance and standards, alignment to ISO19650, BIM information requirements, information access control, permissions, audit trails and logging, workflows, acceptance processes, reporting, transmittals and upload / download to and from other CDEs.

You'll also manage the CCDE for the lifecycle of the project, ensuring a digital golden thread of reliable, accurate, auditable information which ultimately supports the soft landing of the project and into the operational estate and Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system, ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act.

Working closely with the Healthier Futures project team including architects, engineers, and contractors, you'll ensure the effective use of building information throughout the design, construction, and maintenance phases of the new hospital.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Client Common Data Environment (CCDE) Management:
  • Establish and manage the CCDE, defining processes and procedures for efficient information exchange between project stakeholders, including but not limited to:-
  • NHP CDE – Aconex
  • Design Team CDE – ACC
  • Project Team CDE – SharePoint
  • Contractor CDE - TBC
  • Implement and manage information structure and maintenance standards for the CCDE-hosted Information Model and all documents stored within.
  • Upload and download documents to / from a variety of platforms to the CCDE and print any hard copies required.
  • Validate information compliance with project requirements and advise on non-compliance. KPI performance of stakeholder’s compliance and escalate non-compliance to standards.
  • Manage CCDE meta data and ensure it remains robust and accurate throughout the project’s lifecycle.
  • Create and implement look up / exchange tables to ensure naming conventions from stakeholders that do not match the Trusts naming convention can be effectively managed and controlled.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of the Information Model, meta data and document information.
  • Undertake continued reviews, improvement and utilisation of the trusts CCDE.
  • Manage user permissions and roles for access to the CCDE.
  • 2.       Document Control:
  • Oversee the efficient control and management of all project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with document management processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Utilise document management software to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure documents are filed in accordance with the agreed structure and format.
  • Ensure the security, including cyber security of all information disseminated and stored.
  • Distribute information accurately and securely to required internal and external recipients within a project team.
  • 3.       Information Management:
  • Develop and implement the Information Plan and Asset Information Plan, outlining information structure, responsibilities, and required levels of detail.
  • Manage and maintain the projects BIM strategy, execution plan and all information requirements.
  • Coordinate information integration and exchange within the project team and across all stakeholders.
  • Define formats for Project Outputs and assist project team members in assembling information.
  • Ensure that digital information associated with design and construction stages of a project are compatible with a Computer Aided Facilities Management System (CAFM).
  • Ensure the digital information supports the development of a Trust Digital Twin.
  • Responsible for updating BIM information throughout the project lifecycle and into building operations.
  • Ensure that the Golden Thread is maintained and information is collated and stored in a digital format to satisfy the Building Safety Act for a Higher-Risk Building throughout all gateways and occupation.
  • 4.       Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Be the Trusts Information and Bim champion, bring people on board, supporting and integrating them into the CCDE.
  • Foster strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including clinical staff, management, engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members.
  • Develop a strategy for delivering BIM information to various stakeholders, both construction and operational related, including all HF Teams.
  • 5.       Quality Assurance:
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of project documentation.
  • Monitor and review project information to identify and address potential issues.
  • Ensure all relevant parties are compliant with information management protocols and procedures and address any non-compliance.
  • 6.       Training:
  • Create training programs and documentation addressing information management principles, BIM methodologies, and any specific requirements.
  • Conduct training sessions for project team members, including designers, contractors, and facility managers, to ensure a shared understanding of information management processes and BIM standards.
  • Provide training to designated users to enable them to effectively use the CCDE and provide support to the project team.
