Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Information Governance Officer to join our growing Information Governance Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in data protection, records management, information governance or compliance who wants to develop their career within the NHS. Working alongside the Information Governance Manager, Data Governance Lead, Data Protection Officer and wider governance teams, you will help ensure the organisation meets its statutory obligations and maintains high standards of information governance, confidentiality and data protection.

Main duties of the job

  • Key Responsibilities

Provide advice and guidance on Information Governance, data protection and records management.

Support compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, Caldicott Principles and NHS information governance requirements.

  • Review and support Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Information Sharing Agreements and other governance documentation.
  • Assist in the investigation and management of data security incidents and confidentiality breaches.
  • Support responses to Subject Access Requests and other individual rights requests where required.
  • Assist with the maintenance and review of Information Governance policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to promote best practice in the management and protection of information.

As an Information Governance Officer, you will provide specialist advice and support across a range of information governance functions. You will help staff understand their responsibilities, support projects through privacy assessments, investigate incidents and contribute to a culture where information is used safely, securely and effectively.

The role offers significant variety and the opportunity to work with colleagues across operational, clinical and corporate services.

  • Ability to deliver training face to face to large numbers of various staff groups/roles
  • Ability to work on own or in a group, contributing effectively in all situations
  • Ability to produce written reports to a high standard
  • Ability to use or learn core systems to complete subject access requests (for example, EDiscovery & Redaction Tools)
  • A flexible and methodical approach to work to meet the needs of the role
  • Work accurately and with discretion and impartiality
  • Strong personal organisation skills
  • Ability to manage own work load and work independently.
  • Ability to maintain an objective approach in all situations
