We are looking for a motivated and experienced clinical leader with strong operational awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead, develop, and support a multidisciplinary team while ensuring delivery of a high-quality, patient-centred diagnostic service.

Main duties of the job

Undertaking highly complex diagnostic procedures for routine and emergency outpatients and inpatients across all Divisions within Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Responsible for the effective coordination of workforce resources, including rota planning, annual leave approval, sickness management and staff development.

Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent qualification
  • ARTP Accreditation
  • Registration held with the AHCS or HCPC
  • Computer literacy and numeracy

Desirable

  • Relevant Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate professional development post registration
  • Formal leadership or management training (e.g. ILM, NHS leadership programmes)

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Advanced clinical knowledge within respiratory physiology
  • Ability to independently perform, interpret complex diagnostic investigations
  • Strong understanding of national standards (e.g. ARTP, NICE, IQIPS) and ability to embed these into practice
  • Demonstrates sound clinical judgement, including escalation of abnormal or high-risk findings

Desirable

  • Evidence of leading or supervising staff in a clinical setting
  • Ability to coordinate daily service delivery (rostering, triage, prioritisation)
  • Confident in supporting, mentoring, and developing junior staff
  • Ability to manage performance, give feedback, and promote a positive team culture
