An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Trust with the effective management of Fire Safety. This post will work to the Trust Senior Fire Safety Adviser and is based within the Trust Health and Safety Team.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with significant experience of Fire Safety to join the Trust Health and Safety Team.
This post will be based in Nottingham, although this is flexible, with work across Trusts sites to support the Trust and Care Groups in meeting their statutory responsibilities and fire safety needs.
The Fire Safety Team provides a range of specialist expert advice and assistance to a wide range of staff, senior managers and Trust Directors and experience of fire risk assessments in complex settings is essential together with relevant fire safety qualifications.
You will require experience of producing and delivering training, supported by a relevant training qualification.
You will be required to provide specialist support to the Trust on all aspects of fire safety, providing support for implementing the Trusts Fire Safety Policy.
Knowledge of relevant Building Control Guidance documents and current fire safety legislation is essential. You should have significant experience of fire safety awareness including the relevant NHS standards and legislative requirements.

Main duties of the job
You will support the Fire Safety Team in the provision of a comprehensive service throughout the Trust, geared to the delivery of high standards in the working environment and safe practices relative to staff, patients and other users of Trust services. You will be required to provide specialist support to the Trust on all aspects of fire safety, providing support for implementing the Trust Health and Safety Policies.
You will monitor and maintain the arrangements for fire risk assessment, including providing advice and the facilitation of specialist fire training to all levels across the Trust. We want people who can use their initiative, work across professional boundaries and develop positive relationships with internal and external partners.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Participate as a member of the fire safety team, in delivery, monitoring and evaluating all aspects of fire safety
- To promote the Trust’s (Fire Team) (Health & Safety Team) as a centre of excellence
- Advise and assist management in the interpretation and application of Firecode, fire safety legislation and other guidance relevant to healthcare premises
- When requested, advise management with regard to their responsibilities in respect of key fire safety duties detailed in the Trust Fire Policy
- The investigation, when needed, of fire-related incidents and fire alarm actuations
- Manage and supervise the purchasing, siting and maintenance of all fire fighting equipment and fixed installations.
- Contribute to the design phase of capital and revenue building projects with regard to fire safety advise, attend site meetings and carry out fire safety checks on contractors sites and report any breeches of legislation
- Prepare and implement an efficient training programme for all grades of staff on fire safety, including evacuation in the event of fire
- Undertake and complete fire risk assessments, including, where appropriate, providing advice, facilitation and training for staff. Develop and maintain standards, including working with managers
- To undertake surveys and audits in relation to Fire Safety
- Liaises with the Local Fire Authority in the inspections of buildings

Please note that this post does not meet the pay or skill level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
