Fibroscan Technician
This is an exciting new role supporting the delivery of a high-quality, efficient and safe Fibroscan service as part of an innovative Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) pathway. The post will contribute to the development of a pioneering liver diagnostics service, enabling direct referrals from primary and secondary care and supporting a seamless pathway from referral through to diagnosis and treatment.
The Fibroscan Technician will play a key role in delivering non-invasive liver assessments using transient elastography (Fibroscan) technology within the Community Diagnostic Centre at New Addington and other Croydon Health Services sites as required. Working under the supervision of the Liver Specialist Nurse and wider clinical team, the postholder will support the early detection, monitoring and management of liver disease, improving patient outcomes and contributing to streamlined diagnostic pathways.
30 hours per week
Predominantly based within Croydon Community Diagnostic Centre sites, including New Addington CDC.
The postholder may be required to work across other Croydon Health Services NHS Trust sites to meet service needs.

Main duties of the job
Perform Fibroscan assessments in accordance with local and national standards.
Prepare patients for procedures and provide information regarding the investigation.
Record and communicate results accurately and efficiently.
Ensure equipment is maintained, calibrated and used safely.
Support service development and data collection requirements.
Work collaboratively with clinical, nursing and administrative teams to deliver an efficient patient pathway.
Maintain high standards of patient care, confidentiality and record keeping. Working Pattern

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Essential
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Able to organise workload efficiently
- IT and key board skills
- Able to move fibro scan machine, there is some manual handling involved in this role.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changes in the service and demands of the role
- Able to escalate concerns and results where necessary
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Experience of working within a health care provider setting
Desirable
- Knowledge of liver pathology
- Experience working in clinical or diagnostic settings
Education and Qualifications
Essential
- Good standard of general education/GCSE’s/NVQ 3 or equivalent
