Are you a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse looking for your next challenge? Ward 15 at UHCW is seeking an experienced Band 5 Paediatric Nurse who has completed their preceptorship programme to join our dedicated and supportive team.
Ward 15 is a 17 bedded ward, where staff care for babies aged 0-2 years, requiring a range of medical and surgical interventions.. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, delivering safe, effective care while supporting patients and their families throughout their hospital journey.
We are looking for a nurse who demonstrates excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care. Please note this post is not suitable for applicants who are required to undertake the OSCE training programme. Applicants who do not have current valid UK NMC registration will not be considered for this post.

Main duties of the job
- Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
- Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team.
- A competent practitioner, supervising/providing mentorship to a small number of learners or junior staff.
- Responsible for co-ordination and clinical assessment of a group of patients, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated, involving patients and carers.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Participate in observations of care, audit and development of service to improve quality of care.
- Demonstrate technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient care management including; patient observations; equipment management and administration of agreed invasive tests/procedures.
- Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data.
- Manage expected clinical events/enquiries, requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort, ensuring referral to a senior member of staff where appropriate e.g., in an unexpected event.
- Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g. imparting bad news or following an unexpected event.
- Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times.
