An exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse manager to act as Deputy Lead Nurse for Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) on a fixed-term 12-month contract. The postholder will support the Lead SACT Nurse in developing, contributing to and influencing SACT services within the OUH and within the remit of OUH Partners as well as nationally to enable partnership development across services.

The individual will join a team of professionals/practitioners, working closely with the medical, allied health professional and other clinical and non-clinical staff, to provide a high quality, effective, efficient and person-centred service. Leadership for service development, evaluation and quality improvement, and contributing to education and research, are expected as part of the role.

In collaboration with the Lead SACT Nurse, the post holder will be actively involved in providing strategic direction, clinical expertise and professional leadership to support high-quality nursing care and patient experience. They will also provide professional role modelling to lead and inspire the professional development of nursing within SACT.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the Lead SACT Nurse, the post holder will have the opportunity to work at a senior level to help lead and develop systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) services within OUH and in collaboration with OUH Partners across the Thames Valley. The individual will work closely with key personnel in the hospital, community and network setting in the assessment and development of clinical management plans across all care settings to ensure seamless delivery of care for cancer patients. The individual will work closely with nursing and medical consultant colleagues to deliver and continually develop an equitable, standardised and high quality SACT service.

They will actively lead and oversee the introduction of patient experience initiatives to enable the services to proactively seek feedback from users of the service and inform future service developments. They will contribute to the development and roll out of sustainable SACT training and teaching programs to improve the clinical skills of clinicians from all disciplines and health settings within OUHH and OUH Partners. Alongside the Lead SACT Nurse, the individual will take an active role in the SACT operational management and service meetings and develop action plans from these meetings that will be disseminated to all relevant key personnel.

• Work collaboratively with the Lead SACT Nurse to lead, develop, contribute to and influence SACT services within the OUH and within the remit of OUH Partners as well as nationally to enable partnership development across services.
• Promote excellent patient care through development of staff members clinical skills and act as a clinical supervisor and/or assessor
• With agreement of the Lead SACT Nurse take responsibility for leading specific projects within systemic anti-cancer therapy services across the network that will improve clinical outcomes for patients and to develop new programs of care.
• To work closely with nursing, pharmacy and medical consultant colleagues to deliver and continually develop an equitable, standardised, high quality SACT service within OUH.
• Actively lead and oversee the introduction of patient experience initiatives to enable the services to proactively seek feedback from users of the service and inform future service developments.
• To contribute to the development and roll out of sustainable SACT training and teaching programs to improve the clinical skills of clinicians from all disciplines and health settings within OUHH and OUH Partners.
• To take an active role in the SACT operational management and service meetings and develop action plans from these meetings that will be disseminated to all relevant key personnel.
• Undertake consultative work that has importance locally, nationally, and internationally for the advancement of SACT services and patient experience.
