Working as clinical lead in Urgent Care Services Crisis Team.
- Has responsibility for the promotion and assistance in the maintenance of the highest attainable standards of nursing care provided by the teams.
- Provides senior clinical support and advice to the team members ensuring they are visible to all staff to provide clinical leadership.
- Has the lead role of coordinating the team from a clinical perspective across a 7-day week, including clinical supervision, group supervision and MDT reviews.

Main duties of the job
You will ensure that the care delivered is excellent and in keeping with the most up to date guidelines and best practice.
To work with carers/family members as necessary to provide a thorough bio psychosocial assessment of their needs. Carers and significant others will be involved where appropriate in collection of risk information and in the development of a management plan.
To take an advisory and supervisory role in partnership with the clinical team in managing complex cases.
To lead and present complex, sensitive, and challenging clinical and professional communication processes that may impact on service users, carers, staff, the team, the organisation, partner agencies and members of the public, where there are barriers to understanding.
Safeguarding the health and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults, by being familiar with and adhering to Trust safeguarding policies and participating in relevant training.
To utilise problem solving and decision-making skills to support safe discharge planning.
To ensure effective partnership working and pathways between the crisis team and key services both internal and external.
Working as part of the Urgent Care leadership team with willingness to provide clinical leadership across the Crisis Team- including the associated urgent care teams (Home Treatment/Mental Health Hospital Liaison Team) when required.
Deliver clinical supervision, training and clinical development to team members.

Knowledge
Essential
- Ability to use initiative and work without immediate supervision.
- To demonstrate effective leadership skills and act as a positive role model.
- Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice.
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding, empathic approach.
- Excellent report-writing skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-professional team.
- Excellent assessment skills, including risk assessment, to provide nurse led diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Understanding of the importance of user/carer involvement in care planning.
- Detailed understanding of Safeguarding.
- Good understanding of Clinical Governance
- Good knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act.
Desirable
- Psychological therapy skills eg. CBT/DBT/ACT
- Ability to work in a changing environment
- Knowledge and understanding of the roles of other professionals working within mental health.

Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable post registration experience at a Band 6 level or above within Community Adult Mental Health Services.
- Experience working with patients with complex needs and high-risk behaviours in the specialist field.
- Experience of MDT working
- Skills in coordinating and planning interagency approaches in mental health care.
- Experience of assessing and managing risk.
- Experience of providing clinical supervision.
- Quality Improvement and developing practice standards.
Desirable
- Experience of change management
- Experience of working with statutory and nonstatutory agencies
- Experience of working within a range of services
- Experience of delivering evidence-based treatments.
- Experience of clinical leadership and/or operational management at Band 7.
Qualifications
Essential
- RNMH current professional registration with NMC
- Professional knowledge acquired through a degree supplemented by postgraduate diploma specialist training, experience, short courses or specialist training
- ENB 998 or other NMC approved mentor qualification
- Qualification in non-medical prescribing or willingness to undertake within agreed timescale.
