An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Consultant Nurse to lead Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) nursing within our Cancer Services here at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

At this exciting time of growth and development we are looking for an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner with extensive current experience in systemic anticancer therapy (SACT) who will lead the development of Nurse Led outpatient chemotherapy services.

You will provide professional leadership for SACT nursing, lead innovation and service improvement, and contribute to shaping SACT services across the Trust.

We are looking for an advanced practitioner with strong leadership skills, a passion for improving patient outcomes, and a commitment to excellence in cancer care.

Main duties of the job

Exercising a high degree of professional autonomy, acting as an expert, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skill in the provision of patient management, the consultant nurse will spend a minimum of 50% of their time in direct clinical practice supporting patients and developing services for patients undergoing systemic anticancer therapies within the Multi-Disciplinary Team. The remaining time will be dedicated to research/ education, management, and service development. The post holder will line manage the SACT ANP and lead the development of SACT nursing in the Trust supporting alongside the Trust Lead SACT Nurse, Nurse Manager and Trust Lead Cancer Nurse.

Person specification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • • Extensive contemporaneous experience as an ANP / senior clinician at band 8a or above within outpatient SACT service
  • • Evidence of competence to prescribe cytotoxic drugs / SACT within the oncology setting including supportive therapies
  • • Experience in leading and managing a team
  • • Proven track record and have demonstrable knowledge, skills, and audit/research experience.
  • • Advanced expert level of knowledge of specialist area
  • • Must be able to disseminate information in both written format and in public speaking forum
  • • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a wide range of approaches to the patient’s management, demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning
  • • Previous experience of formal presentations to multi professional groups
  • • Evidence of innovative practice developments and significant achievements gained.
  • • Evidence of change management by collaborating with stakeholders within specialist area, across other professions and both intra- and inter- organisationally to produce innovative practice and service development to improve patient outcomes/experience

  • • Evidence of practically applied and appropriate extended scope practitioner skills
  • • Evidence of publications, conference presentations

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • • Registered Nurse Level 1 on NMC register
  • • Master’s in Advanced Practice – Cancer

  • • Recognised teaching qualification
  • • Advanced Communication Skills certificate
  • • Recognised Chemotherapy Nursing Qualification
