An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Quality Team as a Compliance & Quality Lead in our busy Genomics Laboratory.
The East Genomics Service Lead Laboratory is looking to recruit a Band 7 Compliance & Quality Lead, to support the Quality Team and the laboratory to maintain the quality management system and accreditation to ISO 15189:2022.
You will work closely with the Quality Team, laboratory staff, and colleagues at all levels, so strong communication and a high level of organisational skills are required. A keen eye for detail, ability to prioritise and multi-task are required to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the quality management system and the associated duties of the Compliance & Quality Lead role. Previous experience of working with a quality management system and software is highly desirable.
The Laboratory is part of the East Genomics Service. This is one of seven Genomic Hubs established to provide the new National Genomic Medicine Service for NHS England, led by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and working with Nottingham University Hospital and University Hospital Leicester.
Hours are currently within laboratory opening hours of 8am to 6pm, with the ability to work flexibly from home and onsite.

- Provide leadership and guidance to staff within the service on all aspects related to quality management to promote patient safety.
- Support design, implementation and monitoring of the quality management system.
- Promote a quality culture and quality improvement in all areas of the service.
- Communicate with a wide variety of staff and perform computer manipulation and production of data for reports and meetings.

Experience
Essential
- Experience of using an electronic quality management system.
- Experience of using and generating datasets from Ideagen quality management system, IQM (Q-Pulse)
- Use of Microsoft Office products to produce reports in a variety of formats for stakeholders
- Experience of using Laboratory information / electronic patient record systems to support incident / non-compliance investigations
- Experience of using available tools to undertake root cause analysis
- Evidence of leading and managing projects or participation in change management activities
- Developing policy and procedure
- Experience of teaching and / or training different grade of staffs
- Line management and mentoring
- Experience of participating in audit activities
- Participation in regulatory or accreditation assessments
Desirable
- Previous relevant experience of working in the NHS
- Administrator access for design and system build changes of an electronic quality management system
- Quality management experience within healthcare or scientific setting
- Performed audits as the Lead Auditor
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree or equivalent
- Postgraduate qualification at master’s level in a relevant scientific / patient safety subject or equivalent working experience
- HCPC or AHCS registered scientist/technologist
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Quality management

- The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of safe, kind, excellent.
- Ability to work within a laboratory environment which will be handling blood and tissue products.
- Ability to undertake manual handling activities associated with the organisation of equipment calibrations and audit activities.
- Able to travel across multiple sites
