Main duties of the job

• The complex Asthma and Respiratory  Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for delivering and developing specialist asthma services for children and young people, ensuring care aligns with national guidelines and standards.
• The role involves autonomous management of a specialist caseload, including children with complex, severe or high-risk asthma.
• The post holder undertakes advanced clinical assessments, develops personalised management plans, and coordinates care across acute, community and primary care settings.
• A key aspect of the role is improving outcomes and reducing variation in asthma care, particularly for underserved and high-risk populations. This includes contributing to population health initiatives and system-wide priorities.
• The post holder also plays a central role in education, leadership and service development, supporting staff and promoting best practice across the multidisciplinary team.
• Overall, the role combines enhanced clinical practice, collaboration and quality improvement to deliver safe, effective and equitable asthma care.
