An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of an innovative and dynamic team here at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. A rare opportunity has arisen to join the team as a community midwifery team leader, supporting and working with the multidisciplinary team, providing, and coordinating the care for maternity service users accessing community maternity care at MKUH.

The postholder will be responsible for a caseload of service users, providing antenatal and postnatal care in the community. The post holder will also have leadership responsibilities for community midwives and maternity support workers.

Participation in the home birth on call rota is also a requirement of the role.

The postholder will be involved in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and processes and supporting the community team in providing a community care provision. The postholder will be expected to undertake clinical audit and provide educational support for healthcare professionals and students.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will provide professional support to their colleagues within the maternity service and beyond to ensure that Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust maintains and develops outstanding relationships with inter agency teams to support the provision of care for those services that require these services throughout their pregnancy.

Clinical experience in all aspects of midwifery care is prerequisite, demonstrating credibility as a good role model. Excellent communication skills are paramount to the success of the role. You will be working with staff, undertaking audit, developing guidelines and standards, ensuring robust data collection, proactively supporting compliance with local and national requirements, and participating in regional reviews.
